History
Ulmart is a private Russian online retailer that led the Russian e-commerce sector in 2013-2015 in terms of revenue (with about 1 billionUSD per annum). The retailer’s distribution network now covers over 400 sales points (fulfillment centers and outposts) in more than200 Russian cities.
The new format differs from the traditional approach mainly in its focus on the customer as a major decision maker, which in its turn, calls for an entirely different and more integrated approach to logistics. It is the buyer who encourages the development of the logistics system by choosing from a range of delivery methods, from home delivery to independent pickups at an outpost. The logistical infrastructure then becomes the foundation for the sustainable development and growth of the company.
At present, Ulmart is a multifunctional trading internet platform on a national scale. Ulmart’s diversified electronic storefronts offer a wide range of goods and over 120 SKUs: from electronics, to kids’ and automotive goods, DIY, air tickets, digital content, and much more.

The only Russian company to have joined the top 50 global e-commerce players, according to Deloitte.Furthermore, Ulmart became the most valuable brand amongst the Runet companies (after Yandex and the Mail.ru Group), according to Forbes. The year was marked out with the opening of the 1st Suburban fulfillment center in St.Petersburg built by Ulmart itself. |
2014 |
The top 20 major Russian online shops according to Forbes.Ulmart acquired a significant share in Dream Industries company. DI is a content developer for online services Zvooq and Bookmate. Thus, Ulmart in cahoots with Dream Industries enters an extensive segment of digital content distribution market. share in Dream Industries (responsible for Zvooq and Bookmate). Later this year Ulmart bought the shares of the LLC Satellite Company that manages No Limit Electronics (NLE). |
2013 |
Diversification of the range of goods.The logistical structure of Ulmart covered 5 federal districts and included 30 Urban fulfillment centers, about 240 outposts, and three Suburban fulfillment centers. The Company was recognized as the most efficient (according to Infoline Analytical Agency) and fast growing (according to Forbes List) company among the Russian retailers. Ulmart celebrated the end of the year 2013 with the record-breaking turnover of $1 billion (including VAT 18%). With this achievement, the Company ranked third amongst Top 100 Largest Online Runet Retailers by Secret of Firm Magazine. |
2012 |
The Moscow break-through.8 new Fulfillment centers were launched in Moscow, totaling 10 of them. New FCs further opened in Tver, Rostov-on-Don, Vladimir, Voronezh, Samara, and Saratov. Ulmart changed ERP system to keep its unique delivery service of system. Conversion to SAP let the company to have a transparent reporting system, increase Ulmart’s value and open new IPO opportunities. |
2011 |
Start of geographic expansion.The company emerged at the federal level. Fulfillment centers opened in Kazan, Krasnodar and Nizhny Novgorod. The network of outposts continued developing. By the end of 2011, the Ulmart’s assets included 9 FCs and about 50 outposts in 15 cities of the country. |
2010 |
Opening of a multimedia contact center in Tver.A new Ulmart Fulfillment center opened in St. Petersburg at Blagodatnaya Street to serve as the city hub of the company. |
2009 |
Start of Pick-up-Point network.Ulmart started to deploy the outpost network by establishing as order collection points in St. Petersburg, its outskirts, and a number of towns in Leningrad Region. |
2008 |
Foundation of the company in St. Petersburg.The first fulfillment center was opened in St. Petersburg in July 2008. A similar representative office of the company was established in Moscow in a few months. |
